A Minnesota family that was trying to cool off on a hot night lost their home Monday evening.
According to the West Metro Fire-Rescue District, improper disposal of smoking material started a fire at a home on the 3400 block of Louisiana Avenue in Crystal. Flames broke out just before 8 p.m. At first police on the scene believed the fire started because of a faulty air conditioner.
Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire that started in an office area of the home, but the house can't be lived in because the roof is destroyed.
No one was injured in the fire and the family is being assisted by the Red Cross.
