Cottonwood Woman Gets Over 3 Years In Fatal Crash
MARSHALL, Minn. (AP) ―
A 29-year-old Cottonwood woman has been sentenced to three years and five months in prison for a November crash that killed a 17-year-old Marshall girl.
Courtney K. Voorhees was sentenced Tuesday in Lyon County. She had pleaded guilty last month to criminal vehicular homicide in the death of Morgan Leigh Cline.
During the guilty plea, Voorhees told the court she had been drinking on Nov. 12 and then drove, hitting Cline's vehicle, which was parked on the side of Minnesota Highway 23 near Cottonwood. Voorhees had a blood alcohol content of 0.23 percent, about three times the legal limit.
Cline was a Willmar Senior High School student and was enrolled in the post-secondary education option at Southwest State University in Marshall.
