Authorities in Minnesota say the search for a woman and her sick 13-year-old son remains focused in southern California and Mexico.
The Brown County sheriff's department said Sunday it is continuing to look for Daniel Hauser, who has Hodgkin's lymphoma, and for his mother Colleen. The pair left Minnesota Tuesday so Daniel could avoid chemotherapy.
Doctors say Daniel has a cancerous tumor growing in his chest that's likely to kill him without chemotherapy, but his family prefers natural healing methods.
The American Cancer Society estimates there are 35 to 50 clinics in Mexican border towns that attract cancer patients looking for alternative remedies.
Brown County authorities say they are working with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the FBI, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Interpol, and local California authorities.
Brown County Sheriff Rich Hoffmann was in Los Angeles Sunday, but not for the investigation. He went to watch his son, Jamie Hoffmann, make his major league debut with the Dodgers.
The younger Hoffmann, who played right field, didn't disappoint. He blasted a three-run homer in the second inning Sunday against the Los Angeles Angels, lifting the Dodgers to an early 4-0 lead. It was Hoffmann's first homer in the big leagues. There were runners at first and third when he drove an 0-2 pitch over the fence in left-center. The Angels were leading 7-4 in the 8th inning.
Chief Deputy Jason Seidl said the sheriff has been keeping in touch with investigators and is expected back in New Ulm on Tuesday.

According to Chemotherapy.com, chemotherapy is the general term for any treatment involving the use of chemical agents to stop cancer cells from growing. Chemotherapy can eliminate cancer cells at sites great distances from the original cancer. As a result, chemotherapy is considered a systemic treatment.
