MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ― General Mills is donating $500,000 to the American Red Cross to help with the recovery effort in China following a devastating earthquake.

The earthquake struck early last week and registered 7.9 on the scale. The Chinese government estimates up to 50,000 people may be dead and hundreds of thousands more injured in the disaster.
