A Chanhassen man fed up with a string of bizarre crimes at his home hopes hidden cameras help catch the culprit.
Mitch Krause says the video captured a man who keeps letting his 8-year-old yellow lab, Duke, loose in the middle of the night. The tapes also show the culprit smashing one of the hidden cameras.
"About 9 to 12 months ago I bought some video cameras and put them up," said Krause. "On four or five occasions we've caught an individual coming up cutting the fence and letting the dog out of the fence. The dog then disappears for a couple of hours but he is always back sitting on the porch in the morning."
The dog has never been hurt.
The break-ins have happened 16 times since 2006 and eight times since the beginning of this year.
"We're hoping to get the public's help with identifying who this person is," said Carver County Sheriff Lt. Jim Olson. "It's about $200 per time that this has been costing him."
The culprit is facing serious charges because of the thousands of dollars in damage he has caused.
"Its gone way beyond a prank," said Krause.
Olson said he thinks the man they are looking for is college-aged and possibly from the Chanhassen area.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Carver County Sheriff Department's tipline at 952-361-1224.
