Brooklyn Park Business Fire Started On Shelf

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (WCCO) ― A Friday morning fire at a Brooklyn Park business started with a spark on a wooden shelf inside, according to the city's fire department.

As a precaution, hazmat crews were summoned to the scene of the fire, which began at about 5:30 a.m. on the 7800 block of Xylon Avenue. But the Brooklyn Park Fire Chief said no chemicals were released or spilled.

The fire temporarily shut down Brooklyn Boulevard between County Road 81 and Boone Avenue.

Authorities said they're not sure yet how the wooden shelf started on fire in the first place.

There is no estimate yet on the potential cost of damages to the die casting and plating plant.
