The autopsy of a woman who died after a night of drinking in Mankato to celebrate her 21st birthday showed her blood alcohol level was five times the legal limit to drive.
Mankato authorities say the medical examiner measured the level at nearly 0.46 percent, much higher than the driving limit of 0.08 percent.
Mankato Public Safety Director Matt Westermayer says that in his 21 years in law enforcement he's rarely seen a level of intoxication so "incredibly high."
He says Amanda Jax of Mayer drank large amounts of various kinds of alcohol in two or three hours the night of Oct. 29 while out on the town with friends.
Westermayer says the investigation will now be turned over the city attorney's office for possible civil or criminal charges.
Jax was a former nursing student at Minnesota State University, Mankato. She died early the next morning in a friend's off-campus apartment.
