Federally Funded Bike Programs To Open In MN

(WCCO) Two innovative bicycling projects are being launched in Minnesota, and they are being funded by federal grants.

University of Minnesota President Robert Bruininks and Minneapolis Mayor RT Rybak unveiled the programs Tuesday.

One is a new "Bike Center" at the University of Minnesota in the Oak Street Parking Ramp. It will feature a first-of-its kind "rider frequency" program.

The other is a bike-sharing program that'll make 1,000 bikes available for people to use around the University of Minnesota, Uptown and Downtown.

Similar programs were here during the Republican National Convention.
