Woman, 51, Dies After Being Hit While Bicycling

ST. PAUL (AP) ― A 51-year-old St. Paul woman has died after she was hit by an SUV while riding her bicycle.

Police say Virginia Heuer-Bowar had been riding east on Summit Avenue from Snelling Avenue on Saturday morning when she was hit.

The area is popular with bicyclists.

Police say Heuer-Bowar was taken to Regions Hospital and died seven hours after the accident.

The accident is being investigated, but police spokesman Peter Panos says there were no independent witnesses.
