Bemidji Gets Grant To Make Skate Park A Reality

BEMIDJI, Minn. (AP) ― Bemidji is getting a skate park.

The George W. Neilson Foundation awarded supporters a $100,000 grant last week.

The current plan is to have the skate park be included in renovations at Bemidji City Park, which is the next park to be revamped utilizing the half-cent sales tax.

Fundraising is far from over but the grant gives supporters enough funds to construct a park.

So far, supporters have a commitment of $150,000. They are waiting for $85,500 in grant applications that are being reviewed.

Nate Dorr, a volunteer with the effort, says the more money they get, the bigger and better the park will be.
