Man Killed In Dakota County After Fall Into Auger

EUREKA TOWNSHIP, Minn. (AP) ― Authorities in Dakota County say a 49-year-old man was killed when he fell into a jammed auger he was trying to fix in Eureka Township.

Chief Deputy Sheriff Dave Bellows says the victim was working Saturday afternoon at County Stone and Soil feeding mulch into a hopper leading to an auger.

Bellows says according to the preliminary investigation, the auger became clogged and the man attempted to clear it when he fell in and was killed.

He was pronounced dead on the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of family.

The accident remains under investigation by Dakota County authorities and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
