Franken has picked up the endorsement of a former rival, Jim Cohen.
Cohen dropped out of the race on Friday and backed
Franken on Monday.
Cohen said the former "Saturday Night Live" star is the strongest Democrat running against Republican Senator Norm Coleman.
Cohen is a lawyer and environmentalist who ran unsuccessfully for Congress in Connecticut in 1986.

Norm Coleman was born in New York City in 1949. Al Franken was born in New York City in 1951.
