Extra fees, security lines and crowded flights. Flying is tough enough this summer and Airport Police say a pair of pickpockets made the experience worse.
Investigators say a duo targeted travelers headed to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport and used teamwork to catch their victims off guard.
Airport police say on several afternoons in June, Daryl Brown and Alberta Clark worked in tandem to first distract and then pickpocket their victims.
Using descriptions given by the victims, investigators reviewed surveillance tape which apparently shows them in the act.
"Female suspect, male suspect getting off the tram. Goes over to this female victim that dropped her bags and purse it looks like. Male suspect passed off the wallet to the female suspect and the female suspect continues to hang around the area with the victim," described an airport police officer while looking at the surveillance video.
The police recognized the couple when they were at the airport again several days ago. According to court documents they robbed people at the airport at least once a week. They are now charged with felony theft and are in custody.
Metro Transit Police are also looking into whether this couple may be responsible for thefts on the rest of the rail line or at other stops.
