Hugo Tornado Survivor Home From Hospital

HUGO, Minn. (AP) ― A girl who was injured by a tornado that killed her brother last May has gone home from the hospital.

Four-year-old Annika Prindle left Gillette Children's Hospital Friday and is home with her family in Hugo. In a statement Tuesday, her family says Annika is "slowly, very slowly regaining the twinkle in her eyes."

Her family says she is just starting to eat real food, but is mostly fed through a tube in her stomach. She's moving her body more, but still can't hold her head up well or sit on her own. She can't talk yet, but is learning to communicate with her face and voice.

The Prindles say Annika does not understand the loss of her brother, 2-year-old Nate, who was the only fatality in the May 25 tornado. They say they deeply miss him.
