A 43-year-old Winona man has been sentenced to life in prison for stabbing a woman to death almost 25 years ago.
A jury this week convicted Jack Willis Nissalke of four counts of first-degree murder. He was accused in the 1985 stabbing of 40-year-old Ada Sennenfelder in her Winona home.
Nissalke was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday, although state law will allow him to be eligible for parole in 17 years.
Defense attorney Charles Ramsay says he will appeal.
Court documents say Nissalke killed Sennenfelder to silence her after she made incriminating statements against one of his associates.
The trial had been moved to Fillmore County because of pretrial publicity in Winona.

Fillmore County is about 115 miles southeast of St. Paul.
