In The Know: Names That Dare Not Speak Their Names
(WCCO)
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban had a baby girl today. They named her Sunday, which has Don Shelby wondering what has happened to children's names these days.
First, I think Sunday is a wonderful name, but in recent years, we've run across some doozies here. I grew up with Kenny May's sister: April June May.
But here in the newsroom we are left wondering, what in the world were the parents thinking?
Earlier this year, we reported on the arrest of a local man named him Don Corleone So and So. Who would have guessed that when you hang the Godfather's name on a child, he might, in later life, run into trouble with the law?
There were twins born in this city named Lemonjello and Orangejello (that's lemon Jello and orange Jello).
The Mothers of Invention's Frank Zappa named his children Moon Unit One-and-a-Half and Dweezil. They both turned out weird, but that could be explained by genetics, I think.
I'm hoping for the day when the good old names return like Don, but one could argue a 100 per cent chance that he would turn out a little weird.
