In The Know: RNC Visitors Are Missing Out

(WCCO) After Wednesday, there is one full day left of the Republican National Convention and the chance for the Twin Cities to show off their stuff. Don Shelby wonders if the visitors have actually taken notice.

The national convention was supposed to confer upon the Twin Cities millions of dollars left behind by delegates and the press.

But, each day I make my way to the RNC and pass by some of my favorite establishments and commiserate with restaurant owners who say "it's just not working out."

The delegates rise early, they go inside the Xcel Energy Center, and from what I've seen, they stay there. We aren't getting much of a chance to show off the beauty of our lakes, the museums, the art galleries, our above-average children.

Today, we were able to demonstrate, though, after a showy display of sweltering summer heat, the onset of winter. My guess is that's the chief thing they remember. It was 68 degrees; that's cold to folks from south of the Mason Dixon line. And aside from Sarah Palin, the main talk today was whether to wear an overcoat.

Maybe the delegates will leave some of those million of dollars behind buying thermal underwear.

Warning to delegates: Chris says tomorrow will be an arctic 49 degrees when we wake up.
