In The Know: Ventura Has Mastered The Media Game

(WCCO)

Former Governor Jesse Ventura is said to be getting closer to a decision about whether he will run for Senate against Senator Norm Coleman and Al Franken. Don Shelby says Ventura has already scored millions of dollars worth of political advertising and he hasn't even spent a dime.

If he does run for Senate, he will have to contend with the people he despises most of all: real politicians? The Communists?  People who aren't smart enough to agree with him?

No.

He will have to deal with us, but, that means he would have to talk to local news people. And, he can't stand us. We ask tough questions.

When he first ran for governor, there was a quality of freshness about him. Many reporters, holding to old maxim that you vote for the story you want to cover, voted for him.  And, like the Chinese proverb, they now know what the Chinese meant when they say, "Be careful what you wish for."

Smart money says he won't run, but a lot of smart money was bet on sub-prime mortgages too.

I haven't the slightest idea what Jesse Ventura will do. All I know is that I've just given him about 55 seconds of free advertising.  You know, he may actually be the genius he thinks he is.
