In The Know: All-You-Can-Eat Nights At The 'Dome
(WCCO)
The Minnesota Twins, in an effort to increase their fan base, often come up with bobbleheads and giveaways, but this year they've added a new twist that even has Don Shelby's attention. He says he's ready to buy tickets for the All-You-Can-Eat nights.
In May, the home team faces the Texas Rangers at the 'Dome.
I'll be there because I'm invited, along with everyone else, to eat myself silly. Pay one price and eat all of the hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, peanuts, pretzels, pop, water that you can possibly hold.
This seems like a very fan-friendly way to put spectators in the seats, but I'm not sure the Twins will make any extra money. I've been to the State Fair and I've seen how Minnesotans eat when they have to pay for everything they consume.
I don't think the Twins have taken into consideration the damages they'll incur to the bottom line if they let those same people eat everything they want for as long as they want for one single price. I calculate they will lose what it would cost them for a new, say, starting pitcher.
They are smart enough not to include beer in the all-you-can-consume price.
I'll be there, with a pennant and a big hat ... and a huge bottle of Tums.
