H1N1 In Pigs Hasn't Affected Pork Sales In Minn.

(WCCO) Minnesota Pork Producers said the discovery of H1N1 in a half a dozen pigs has not affected pork sales in the state.

A spokesperson said sales have remained steady in the last three weeks since the announcement was made.

Educational efforts with butchers to help customers can be credited with the steady sales, he said.

H1N1 was recently found in pigs in Indiana on Monday, the spokesperson said. That marks the first time the virus was found in pigs meant for food. A vaccine for pigs is still in the works.
