U Of M To Vaccinate Students, Staff Against H1N1

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ― The University of Minnesota will begin to vaccinate its students and staff who are at high risk for getting the H1N1 virus.

The school announced Monday those eligible can make appointments to get the nasal vaccine.

The government has updated its recommendations for how many doses of H1N1 vaccine children and pregnant women need. Women who are pregnant will not need two doses of the H1N1 vaccine as first recommended. Health leaders say one shot will protect most of those women from getting sick.

However, tests show children under 6 years old will still need two doses for maximum protection.
