Dept. Of Health Reports 2 More Minn. H1N1 Deaths

Since the beginning of April, 12 people have died of laboratory confirmed H1N1 influenza in Minnesota.

The Minnesota Department of Health reported two more deaths connected with the H1N1 flu virus in the state.
The department said one of the two deaths was an adult in his or her 50s from south central Minnesota. That person had no other underlying health conditions.
The other victim was an adolescent between the ages of 10 and 19 from the Twin Cities metro area who also did not have any underlying health issues.
Earlier this week, 54-year-old Mike Milbrath, executive vice president and administrator of the Waseca Medical Center - Mayo Health System, died. He had been diagnosed with H1N1 but it was not immediately confirmed that the flu virus was directly connected with his death.
Since the beginning of April, 12 people have died of laboratory confirmed H1N1 influenza in Minnesota.
The Health Department says 288 schools around Minnesota reported outbreaks of influenza-like illness last week. That's up from 230 schools reporting outbreaks the previous week.
Also on Wednesday, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services said four more people in the state have died from the swine flu, bringing the death total to five since Sept. 1 and 14 altogether including those in the spring.
