Good To Know: The Ghosts Of Baseball Past

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ― Never mind the football game for a second. Baseball and the Metrodome caught Don's attention. And it's kind of spooky. He says the end of the division race could have been written by Edgar Allen Poe.

First, hats off to the Twins for the gutsy play in the home stretch. But, Monday night, what I'm thinking about is game 163 of the regular season.

Last night was supposed to be the last baseball game ever played in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. I believe the Dome, haunted by the World Series championships past, by the ghost of Kirby Puckett, and by the spirits of the greats who played inside that Teflon monster, are not about to let go.

And, I, for one, a season ticket holder for outdoor baseball, am really ready yet, either. I know the Dome has power of its own. I saw it up close in '87 and '91, and may be seeing it again.

It is the Amityville Horror to visiting teams, and Detroit visits this great haunted place Tuesday night to what I know is their own horror. My money is on the ghost.
