Good To Know: Homage To Hometown Nine

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ― Monday night it was the Vikings and Packers and Tuesday night it was the Twins and Detroit. So Don Shelby pays homage to the hometown nine.

It was like watching a heavyweight prize fight, sluggers punching and counter-punching, beating each other bloody for the division title.

But the truth about tonight is that they were trying to annihilate each other for the right to kiss a shark.

Tomorrow night we face the Yankees.

For those of you who love our national pastime, and love the hometown team, we must give it up for the two teams who wanted to win and wanted to win desperately.

If you watched, you were treated to a show very few people get to be a part of in an average lifetime.

Twins shortstop Orlando Cabrera said it was the greatest game he ever saw, let alone, played in.

And a final lesson.

In the last minute, two guys relegated to the end of the bench played us to a championship.

That's heart. That's leadership. That's baseball.
