Good To Know: 'Love Gov' Keeps Heaping It On
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ―
South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, who admitted to having an extramarital affair with a woman in Argentina, has rejected calls for his resignation. Don says, it might be good to know why he would even stick it out.
The South Carolina chief of state, called the "Love Gov." said he'd keep on being the governor until the end of his term.
As a career journalist, I applaud the move. It gives all of us scribes another year of talking about him. If he quit, he would be just another ex-politician who had cheated on his wife; and those stories are a dime a dozen.
But a sitting governor with a wife and another woman he calls his Argentine soul-mate is always good copy.
His wife gathered up the children and left the governor's mansion last week. But, we, the press, will not abandon him.
I say, give him a break. No, I'm just kidding (laughs). Keep heaping it on.
There are not enough invectives for a man who would tell his staff to tell reporters he was hiking the Appalachian Trail when he was really canoodling down Buenos Aires way.
