Good To Know: A Newer, Friendlier Iran?

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ― Out of the clear blue sky comes word from Iran that it wants to halt nuclear proliferation. Don says, there is not just a little genius in Iran's announcement.

Iran proposes a global system to eliminate nuclear weapons, and it has thrown in cooperation on solving the Afghanistan problem and will work with the world to thwart terrorism.

Boy, this is welcome news. Here I was thinking that Iran was underwriting the terrorism of Hezbollah and funding Hamas, and sending rocket shells over to Iraq to kill American soldiers, including three Minnesotans last month.

I must apologize to Iran for thinking that the enriching of uranium at warp speed was really a covert effort to build nuclear weapons. And, I'm ashamed to admit, that I believed the intelligence that Iran was sending in troops and weaponry in support of the Taliban in Afghanistan.

But now, this. I feel foolish. It wants a global system to eliminate nuclear weapons. That, I suppose, would include ours.

But, then, there's a rule. If it looks to good to be true, it is not true.
