Good To Know: A Vanishing Line In The Ice

(WCCO) The subject of global warming is contentious. Is the planet really warming? Are humans the cause? What do we do to counteract the problem? Don Shelby says it might be good to know what's going on in a part of Europe.

Specifically, I draw your attention to the border of Italy and Switzerland. The warming of the planet is causing glaciers to melt there quite quickly. Glaciers are melting at an ever-increasing rate as climate changes.

But, on the border of Italy and Switzerland, global warming is causing problems that will cause history books and atlases to be rewritten. The melting of the glaciers is going to change the border of those two countries.

The border criteria set up in 1941 used the glacier ridge as a dotted line separating the two places. Now the glacier is melting and the lines will have to be redrawn.

Not a world-changing event, but a country-changing one. Of little importance, unless you are an Italian or Swiss and global warming draws a new line in the sand that will cause you to change your citizenship.
