Ben Tracy Leaving WCCO, Heading To CBS News
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ―
WCCO-TV reporter Ben Tracy will be joining CBS News in January as a network correspondent, it was announced today by WCCO-TV Vice President and General Manager Susan Adams Loyd. Tracy will report for the CBS Early Show and the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric and will be based out of Los Angeles.
"We are not surprised that CBS has called upon someone with so much talent," said Loyd. "Ben is an excellent example of the caliber of professionals that work at this station. He is a diligent reporter and a fine human being, and one in a long line of WCCO alum whose talents have risen to the likes of the CBS network. We are delighted that viewers will continue to see Ben's work on WCCO through his contributions at CBS."
"I've always said it would take something extraordinary for me to leave WCCO-TV and my home here in the Twin Cities," said Tracy. "This opportunity to join CBS News as a correspondent was something I simply could not refuse. I am proud to carry on a great tradition of WCCO-TV employees representing this station and Minnesota on the national news. I am so grateful for my time here and know this would not be happening had it not been for the people here at WCCO who taught me so much."
WCCO-TV hired Tracy as a reporter for the I-Team/Special Projects Unit in October of 2004. While his long-format stories have gained him recognition in the community and garnered many awards for the station, Tracy is best known for his reports on the regular series "Good Question". Monday through Friday, Tracy, along with photojournalist and editor Joe Berglove, asks questions that are top of mind and seek the answers along with the viewers. CBS started airing WCCO-TV's Good Question nationally on the CBS Saturday Early Show five months ago.
The station plans to continue the successful Good Question series and will begin a search for another reporter to team up with Berglove.
Tracy will continue his work at WCCO-TV until mid-December and begin his new job in January of 2008.
WCCO-TV is part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation.
