Build Your Own Brownies

Ingredients
2 cups sugar
1½ sticks melted, unsalted butter
½ tsp. salt
3 eggs
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup flour
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Butter or grease a 9 X 9-inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, stir together the sugar, melted butter and salt. Whisk in the eggs, one at a time. Stir in the cocoa powder and flour. Spread the mixture in the pan and bake in the center of the oven for 30 minutes, or until just set. Cool in pan, on rack.
Note: For a dark metal or glass pan, reduce the oven temperature to 335 degrees Fahrenheit.
Optional Add-Ins
-- Dried fruit such as apricots, cherries, cranberries or blueberries
-- Sweetened flaked coconut, lightly toasted
-- Chopped nuts such as walnuts, pecans, pistachios, Macadamia nuts, peanuts or pine nuts
-- Baking chips such as chocolate, white, butterscotch, mint or peanut butter
-- Toffee pieces
