Taste Of Minnesota Festival Opens Under New Owners

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) ― Taste of Minnesota opens Thursday on St. Paul's Harriet Island with new owners and a new gate price of $10.

The admission fee can be redeemed on food and drinks inside the festival.

International Event Management, Taste's new owner, aims to revamp the 27-year old festival by bringing in better known musical acts and more local food. The musical lineup includes Judas Priest and Elvis Costello.

Children get in free with a paying adult.

Taste of Minnesota has been held on Harriet Island since 2002. The festival features nightly fireworks and runs through Sunday.

St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman and festival officials hold a morning news conference to kick off opening day. The gates open to the public at noon.
