MN Author Wins National Outdoor Book Award

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ― A Minnesota author has won a National Outdoor Book Award.

Carleton College professor Laura Goering of Northfield won the children's category for "Whistling Wings."

Goering has taught Russian language and literature at Carleton for the past 20 years. "Whistling Wings" is her first published children's book.

"Whistling Wings" is about Marcel, a tundra swan who's left behind by other swans when he stops at a lake while flying south. The book is illustrated by Laura Jacques and published by Sylvan Dell.
