Minn. Fringe Festival Deadline Approaching

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ― Just because you live outside Minneapolis doesn't mean you can't get help with your Minnesota Fringe Festival application.

The Fringe plans its first Greater Minnesota Road Trip this month.

Applicants will have a chance to visit with Fringe staff. Stops are planned in Duluth, Bemidji, Fargo-Moorhead, Fergus Falls and St. Cloud as well as Minneapolis.

Applications are due at the Fringe office by 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30. No faxes or e-mails are accepted.

The cost is a $400 producing fee and a $25 nonrefundable application fee. A public lottery to pick this year's shows will be held Feb. 16 at Bedlam Theatre in Minneapolis. Shows not drawn in the lottery keep their $400.

The Fringe features everything from spoken word to children's shows. The 2009 Fringe runs July 30 through Aug. 9.
