When all-digital broadcast television debuts February 17, up to 21 percent of Minnesota households could be affected.
That's the percentage of Minnesota households that currently rely on antennas to pull in traditional analog broadcasts. If they haven't done so already, they will need to either upgrade to a new digital TV or get a converter box.
According to Nielsen Co., Minnesota has the fourth-highest number of U.S. homes using only broadcast television.
In the Twin Cities, the percentage of households using antennas to get broadcasts is even higher -- 23 percent. Groups such as the Hmong American Partnership have held events to help get people ready for the switch.
