Hannah Montana Frenzy For Last Minute Tickets

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ― A federal judge has ordered a company to stop selling software that lets people flood Ticketmaster with requests to buy tickets in bulk.

Ticketmaster said RGM Technologies sold software to brokers who buy up popular tickets, then resell them at higher prices depriving customers fair access to tickets.

Now, the Minnesota Attorney General's office is joining several other states in looking into any potential illegal activity since the ticket scalping became legal Aug. 1.

However, these actions are too late to help anyone looking for tickets to this Sunday's Hannah Montana concert at the Target Center.

Tickets are still being offered on EBay, Craigslist, Ticketmaster's Ticket Exchange, and through various ticket brokers.

On Tuesday afternoon, tickets were going for $150 on average. That's about $90 more than face value. Many were single seats, but four tickets together were still available.

One ticket broker warned people to move fast when they see a ticket for sale. He said his email box was full 15 minutes after he posted his ad on Craigslist.

At local radio station KDWB, DJ Scotty Davis said 98 percent of his calls are from listeners who want Hannah Montana tickets. Thousands have called for the few dozen the station has to give away.

"People will call and tell you any intimate detail about their life to make you feel horrible to guilt you into giving them the tickets," he said. "They will say whatever it takes to get these tickets because they have a child on their hands -- screaming."

Local broker TicketKing said they still have tickets to sell for $150 on average. If people aren't picky about where they want to sit or how many tickets they want to buy, owner Mike Nowakowski suggests some people might want to wait. If his tickets don't sell, he expects to drop the price by Friday.
