St. Paul will remember its "Public Enemies" past next month.
The downtown Landmark Center will host a series of events timed to the release of the new movie starring Johnny Depp as John Dillinger. Landmark Center is a former federal building where many criminals of the 1930s were brought to justice.
The retrospective kicks off July 10 with a lecture by author Bryan Burrough, whose book was the basis for the "Public Enemies" film.
Gangster artifacts including ransom notes from the kidnapping of Minnesota banker Ed Bremer will be on display July 11.
On July 15 and 16, Twin Cities attorneys and judges will re-enact the 1934 trial of Dillinger's girlfriend, Billie Frechette. She was convicted of harboring Dillinger, public enemy No. 1.

"Public Enemies" was directed by "Miami Vice" auteur Michael Mann.
