Love Sentenced To 180 Days At Drug Center

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― Rocker Courtney Love was sentenced Friday to 180 days at a drug treatment facility for violating probation in three criminal cases.

Superior Court Judge Rand Rubin credited the 41-year-old singer-actress for 28 days she spent at a rehabilitation center earlier and told her that he was pleased with her progress. Rubin also extended her probation to March 2007.

Love "fully intends to make good on her promise to be clean and sober, and I'm hoping she'll be able to do that," attorney Howard Weitzman said after the hearing.

Love, the former lead singer for the band Hole and the widow of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, was ordered to appear in court last month for allegedly being under the influence of a controlled substance, which was not identified. At that hearing, Love admitted that she had violated her probation in the three cases, including two drug-related cases.

In another development, a woman who accused Love of attacking her while she was asleep in 2004 sued the singer Friday for an undisclosed amount.

Love pleaded no contest in February to misdemeanor assault involving Kristin King and was sentenced to three years' probation. Love also paid $2,705 in restitution to King, whose lawyer said the amount did not fully compensate King.
