The new TCF Bank Stadium is now LEED certified and the only collegiate or professional football stadium in the country to get that certification.
Buildings are deemed LEED certified if they use less energy and water. The LEED program is for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.
The stadium earned it in part because it has a storm water drainage system that filters rain water and sends it into the Mississippi River.
The stadium also has a reflective roof to reduce the heat island effect.
It was made out of 90 percent recycled steel and 98 percent of the construction waste was recycled.
LEED certified buildings are said to save money, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to a healthier environment.
If you'd like to tour the TCF Bank Stadium, free public tours will be held on Sunday, Oct. 4 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
This will be the only time you'll get to tour the football-shaped locker room.
