'U' To Give Away Green-Friendly Light Bulbs

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ― The University of Minnesota is giving away 10,000 energy-efficient fluorescent light bulbs on Thursday.

It's a part of the university's 10th anniversary "Beautiful U Day" to promote sustainability and make improvements to campus.

President Robert Bruininks will kick off the day at the University ReUse Center, which sells furniture and other campus leftovers out of its warehouse.

Members of the campus community can pick up a "zero waste lunch" and receive a free compact fluorescent light bulb at both the Northrop Plaza in Minneapolis and the St. Paul Student Center.
