Minn. Senate Candidates To Debate At UMD

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) ― Minnesota's three major-party candidates for the U.S. Senate hold their third debate tonight at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

Republican incumbent Norm Coleman, Independence Party candidate Dean Barkley and DFL candidate Al Franken will debate starting at 7 p.m. in UMD's Romano Gym.

For the first hour, the candidates will answer questions from moderator Patrick Marx, with the final half-hour of questions coming from the audience.

The event is free to the public. Tickets can be obtained through the offices of the candidates or at 6 p.m. at the door.

The candidates have two more in the Twin Cities on Oct. 24 and Nov. 2.

Norm Coleman was born in New York City in 1949. Al Franken was born in New York City in 1951.
