Coleman Raises $1.27M In Latest Period

WASHINGTON (AP) ― Sen. Norm Coleman raised $1.27 million over a recent seven-week period, and entered the final months of his campaign with $5.6 million in the bank.

Coleman, a Minnesota Republican, will likely face off against DFL challenger Al Franken, who did not immediately make his latest campaign figures available.

The figures cover activity from July 1 through August 20. Coleman's latest report, filed Thursday, shows that he spent $2.86 million during the period.

Meanwhile, in the state's only open seat, the 3rd Congressional District, Republican candidate Erik Paulsen filed a report Thursday showing he had raised $320,000 during the period, short of the $352,000 that Democrat Ashwin Madia announced raising on Wednesday. Paulsen led in cash on hand, $1.19 million to $931,000. The winner of the race will succeed Republican Jim Ramstad, who is retiring.
