Minn. Senate Recount Resumes Monday

ST. PAUL (AP) ― Minnesota U.S. Senate race recount resumes Monday after a day off Sunday.

Republican incumbent Norm Coleman held a 215-vote lead over Democratic challenger Al Franken in unofficial results before the statewide recount, out of nearly 3 million ballots cast.

Ballots were recounted in a few counties Saturday. Secretary of State Mark Ritchie says Minnetonka dropped plans to recount ballots Sunday and will tally them Monday instead.

Just over 73 percent of the precincts had been recounted as of Saturday, accounting for nearly two-thirds of the votes.

Coleman's total is down 669 votes, while Franken's is down 621 votes.

The Coleman campaign has challenged 948 ballots, compared with 945 for the Franken campaign.
