District 16 Republicans To Consider Olson Backing

MILACA, Minn. (AP) ― Republicans will gather Wednesday to update their endorsement for an open state Senate seat near St. Cloud.

The GOP endorsed Mark Olson for the seat before the primary, but he lost to Alison Krueger. Krueger now faces Democrat Lisa Fobbe in the November election, but Olson has filed as a write-in candidate.

Olson, of Big Lake, was expelled from the House Republican caucus last summer after he was convicted of domestic assault.

Dave Wilson, the Republican chairman in District 16, says Wednesday's meeting in Milaca is to call the question of whether delegates still support Olson.
