Analysis: Political Ad Spending In Minn. Tops $31M

ST. PAUL (AP) ― Loads of campaign cash are buying lots of TV ads in Minnesota, where nearly $32 million has been spent.

The figure comes from Minnesota Public Radio News. MPR News examined ad buys since the beginning of this year and the ad time groups and candidates have reserved through the Nov. 4 election. The analysis covers data kept by Twin Cities television stations and the region's dominant cable provider.

Almost two-thirds of the spending has revolved around the state's U.S. Senate race. Republican Senator Norm Coleman and Democratic challenger Al Franken and their allies have purchased more than $19 million in ad time.

Details on the ad analysis can be found at http://www.mpr.org.
