Charter School Claims Hate Mail Still Coming In

INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn. (AP) ― Officials at a charter school that caters to Muslim students say the hate mail keeps coming despite the end of a state investigation.

The Minnesota Department of Education found last month that Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy hasn't broken any laws.

The department investigated several complaints that the school was blurring the separation between church and state. They came on the heels of the writings of a Star Tribune columnist.

While the school must change a few things by fall, TiZA director Asad Zaman says the findings exonerated the school.

But he says security worries continue, and the school recently spent nearly $5,000 to install a security system so that all visitors must be buzzed in.

Zaman says some parents are concerned about their children's safety.
