'U' To Host Student Leaders From North Africa

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ― Twenty students from North Africa will study at the University of Minnesota this fall under a State Department program to promote understanding of the United States and develop future leaders.

The university says the students from Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco and Libya will study American history, government, institutions, economics and culture.

They will also get firsthand experience with Minnesota hospitality and culture in both the Twin Cities and outside the metro area.

The university is one of six institutions participating the program around the country.

Minnesota's program will include tours of the state Capitol, meetings with state representatives and a trip to the North Shore and Iron Range.

The State Department is supplying the grant to pay for the program.
