Doctors: Delay On Vote On 'U' Stadium Beer Sales

ST. PAUL (AP) ― A Twin Cities area physicians' group wants the University of Minnesota to delay a vote on whether to sell alcohol at its new on-campus football stadium.

The university's Board of Regents is scheduled to vote Friday on selling alcohol to fans in premium seats at TCF Bank football stadium, and Mariucci and Williams arenas.

Jack Davis is chief executive officer of the West Metro Medical Society. He says his group is concerned that serving alcohol on campus sends the wrong message.

He wants the Regents to the delay the vote for six months to allow for more debate on what he calls a huge public health issue.

University President Bob Bruininks has recommended the board pass the proposal on Friday.
