Digital TV Switch Nearing For Minn. TV Stations

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ― Many Minnesota television stations face a deadline this week for switching their signals to all digital.

But Jim du Bois of the Minnesota Broadcasters Association expects the stations will make the transition by Friday's deadline.

Du Bois says about 30 percent of Minnesota TV stations made the switch by the previous Feb. 17 deadline or earlier. Congress delayed the deadline for the switch to June 12.

Among the Twin Cities stations still to make the switch are KTCA, KTCI, WCCO, KSTP, KMSP, KARE and WFTC. KSTC-TV made the switch on May 26.

Three assistance centers will be set up in Twin Cities shopping malls to help viewers make the transition.
