Woman Found Dead Near Motorcycle, Cops Suspicious

ANDOVER, Minn. (WCCO) ― A fatal motorcycle crash has turned into a homicide investigation.

The crash happened on the 16800 block of Tulip Street Northwest in Andover. Investigators say there is more to the crash.

Anoka County Sheriff's deputies combed through brush Saturday near what was originally believed to be an accident scene.

28-year-old Natasha Waalen was discovered dead next to her motorcycle in Andover early Friday morning. Waalen lived with her longtime boyfriend and their 4-year-old daughter at a home on Adams in Anoka.

Neighbors said officers spent about 12 hours going through the house Friday. The Anoka County Sheriff's department said Waalen's autopsy revealed several factors not consistent with a motorcycle crash.

Waalen's 33-year-old boyfriend Ryan Boland is now under arrest for suspicion of first degree murder.

"I didn't want to believe it. I've known him a long time," said the victim's father Jeff Waalen, who's known Boland for about 10 years.

Waalen's friends said they're also shocked to hear of Boland's arrest. They say Waalen grew up in Andover and Anoka and had many friends in the area.

Investigators have not released any information about a possible motive or cause of death.

Boland could be charged with murder early next week.

The couple's 4-year-old daughter is staying with the Boland's parents.
