Former Minnesota Teacher Sentenced To Prison

HOT SPRINGS, S.D. (AP) ― A former Minnesota high school teacher was sentenced to 15 years behind bars in South Dakota for sexual contact with a minor and furnishing alcohol to a minor.

George Krenz resigned in May as ninth-grade social studies teacher at Hot Springs, South Dakota. He also taught at Yellow Medicine East High School in Granite Falls, Minnesota, and is a native of Sleepy Eye.

The 31-year-old pleaded guilty in December to one count of sexual contact with a person under 16 and eight counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor. In exchange, the prosecutor dropped rape charges.

A judge in Hot Springs on Friday sentenced Krenz to eight years on the alcohol charges and 15 years on the sexual contact charge, to be served at the same time.
