A stolen statue of St. Anthony, the Catholic patron saint of lost items, has been lost forever.
Campus police at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay learned June 14 that the statue had been taken from the secluded LeMieux Chapel in the Cofrin Memorial Arboretum.
Campus police Sgt. Jeff Gross said Friday that a campus employee found pieces of the statue in the area of the arboretum trail some time ago. But no one knew then that the statue was missing, so the employee threw the pieces away.
When campus police checked the trail area again, they found the remaining pieces from the broken statue.
Police asked for anyone with information about what happened to come forward.
